WelcomeThe eChallenges e-2009 Conference took place from the 21 - 23 October in the Marmara Hotel, Istanbul. eChallenges e2009 attracted over 550 delegates from 45 countries, representing government and public administration (25%), industry including SMEs (21%) and academia and research (54%). The Scientific Programme incorporated over 260 presentations from 36 countries and five continents and over 65 Thematically Focused Paper and interactive Workshop Sessions incorporating an invigorating mixture of business and government case studies, technical, legal and policy papers from representatives of leading commercial, government & research organisations from around the world. Special FP7 Tutorials on "Internet of Services - Research beyond Call 5" and "Socio-economic Sciences and Humanities" were provided. Hosted by TUBITAK (Scientific & Technological Research Council of Turkey) and TuR&Bo ppp (Turkish Research and Business Organizations AISBL), eChallenges e2009 was supported by the European Commission and Technical Co-Sponsored by IEEE. PhotoseChallenges e2009 delegates can access photos online. eChallenges e-2009 Best Paper AwardThe Best Paper Award was presented to "Semantic Mediation to Enable Network and Service Management Interoperability in Future Internet Networks" authored by John STRASSNER, Sven VAN DER MEER, Brendan JENNINGS and Miguel PONCE DE LEON, Telecommunications Software & Systems Group, Waterford Institute of Technology, Ireland. The Runner-up Best Paper Award was presented to "UlakAgent: A Mobile Researcher Agent for Resource Sharing among Learning Management Systems", authored by Nezaket TEZCAN and Fatma Cemile SERÇE, Atilim University, Turkey eChallenges e-2009 Best Demonstration Stand AwardThe Best Demonstration Stand Award was presented to Korea e-Government, showcasing e-Hanaro, Government Information Sharing Service; Se-um-ter, Architectural Administration System and NCIA, National Computing & Information Agency. The Runner-up Best Demonstration Stand Award was presented to Mobile3DTV, METU University, Turkey.
